The Body Shop Spa of The World Brazilian Cupuaçu Scrub-In-Oil ( 22 £ for 350 g/12.3 oz) is a scrub-in-oil made with the Cupuaçu nut that can be found in the Amazon and is said to be and Amazonian secret for nourished skin. This Scrub-In-Oil is made from Cupuaçu oil that has been mixed with what is said to be fine salt crystals to leave your skin smoothed and replenished.

I had actually never heard of the Cupuaçu nut before buying this scrub-in-oil. Even though I’m Brazilian, there are a lot of fruits and vegetables that I’ve never seen or heard of because Brazil is such a big country with different climates. The Cupuaçu fruit is closely related to the cacao plant and smells like a mixture of cacao & pineapple. It tastes like a mixture of pear and banana. Sounds delicious right? Well, this scrub-in-oil is made from the nuts of the Cupuaçu fruit and the scrub doesn’t actually smell anything like the fruit itself unfortunately. This scrub-in-oil has a heavy perfume scented smell and it smells nothing like cacao & pineapple, which I find to be a shame. I think that the cacao & pineapple smell would have elevated this scrub to the next level. Could you imagine standing in your hot shower, opening up this jar and feeling that exotic smell of cacao & pineapple? Lord, I would have imagined myself in some exotic, warm place every time I would have taken a shower. That would have been something.

This scrub-in-oil will leave you with replenished, smooth skin after your shower (and for at least a couple of hours afterwards). But it won’t last more than that, and if you suffer from dry skin (or if it’s winter), then your skin will be dry again the next morning. Don’t go thinking you’re going to walk around with super hydrated skin in-between showers. However, if you are as lazy as I am and never actually use your moisturizer after you’ve had a shower, this is great. Because you step out of your shower already moisturized and smelling good. As I said, this is very scented so if you are allergic to perfume or have really sensitive skin on your body, this might not be for you.

I’m not a fan of the packaging. It’s pretty, but it’s bulky and I prefer a tube. It’s a mess having to open the jar under running water and then having to dig your fingers into it (not a fan of getting stuff stuck under my nails). That hassle alone makes me shy away from using it and I find myself not using it as often as I would like to.

Ps. salt crystals sting like hell after you’ve shaved (I stupidly realized that too late and had to learn it the hard way). So I’d recommend scrubbing yourself with this first. Otherwise you’re going to have a really bad time in the shower.

+ Leaves your skin smooth and moisturized after your shower
+ Scrubs well
+ Smells good

– Expensive
– Salt stings (if you have wounds or cracked skin)
– The packaging is bulky
– It comes in a jar
– Heavy scented and not ideal for sensitive skin

All in all? I would not buy this product again. Don’t get me wrong, I love scrub-in-oils. But I prefer them made with sugar and not with salt. The packaging is way too bulky and not very user friendly. I’d rather get a scrub that comes in a tube and that I can actually use before I shave, to exfoliate and prep my skin, without it making me curse like a sailor in the shower. I’m looking elsewhere for my next scrub-in-oil. However, Even though I’m not a fan of this scrub, I still want to try their Hawaiian Kukui cream.
