Peter Thomas Roth | Mask-A-Holic 5-Piece Kit

Peter Thomas Roth

The Peter Thomas Roth Mask-A-Holic 5-Piece Kit (75 $ / 995 SEK) is a collection of five of Peter Thomas Roth’s most popular masks to help detoxify, repair, hydrate and polish skin (230 $ value). This is marketed as a limited edition kit but it seems to have been around for a while so I’m not so sure about the truth to that claim. As a mask-a-holic myself I felt like this was the perfect kit as I’ve been dying to try more of Peter Thomas Roth’s face masks after becoming obsessed with the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask.

This kit contains:

  • Cucumber Gel Mask (1.7 oz/50 ml)
  • 24K Gold Mask Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Mask (1.7 oz /50 ml)
  • Rose Stem Cell Bio Repair Gel Mask (1.7 oz/50 ml)
  • Pumpkin Enzyme Mask (1.7 oz/50 ml)
  • Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask (1.7 oz/50 ml)

This complete kit is targeted for all skin types and is said to deliver solutions for dryness, uneven skin tone and pores. It’s said to leave your skin refreshed, smooth, nourished and healthy looking. That sounds great if you ask me. I feel like this kit is great value for your money. You get 5 of the most popular Peter Thomas Roth masks and considering what each mask costs separately I really think you’re getting your moneys worth. Even if the masks aren’t full size (full size mask is 5 fl oz/150 ml). You can’t possibly use up 5 full size masks at the same time before they all expire (usually within a year of opening the product).

The masks that I was most excited about were the 24K Gold Mask, the Irish Moor Mud Mask and the Cucumber Gel Mask. I donated the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask that came in this kit to my mother, she really loved the one that I borrowed her a couple of months back so much that I almost didn’t get it back. The Pumpkin Enzyme Mask pictured is my full size one and is not the one that came with the kit.

My Favorite Masks

My favorite masks from this kit actually ended up being only two out of the three that I was most excited to use. The Irish Moor Mud Mask really clears my skin and I actually love to use it right before I apply my retinoid from The Ordinary. I feel like my skin looks so much clearer and healthy when I wake up the next day. The Cucumber Gel Mask has really saved my skin this spring and summer because it has really helped calm down my sensitive allergic skin. I actually mentioned it in my monthly favorites of July, you can read it here. As I already own the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask I already knew that I love it, so if you want to know my thought’s on it you can read my blog post about it here.

Not as Impressed

Even though I really love the three masks I above, I must say that I was less than impressed with the 24K Gold Mask and the Rose Stem Cell Mask. The 24K Gold Mask literally did nothing but leave glitter residue on my face. The mask didn’t feel luxurious at all and I feel like there was more gold coloring and glitter in it than actual gold, and it also felt very gooey and gel like. I can’t say that this is a bad mask, but the fact is that it just didn’t work for me. When it comes to the Rose Stem Cell Mask I honestly only used it once. For me, It smelled so bad I actually had to wash it off after I couple of minutes because I just couldn’t stand it. I don’t know, maybe I got a bad product? I couldn’t find a single review where someone thought that the mask smelled bad. On the contrary, most people thought it smelled great. Maybe I’m just oversensitive to the rose smell? Anyway, I gave both the 24K Gold Mask and the Rose Stem Cell Mask to my mother as I thought they would probably be better suited for her dry skin. Needless to say, she really loved the Rose Stem Cell mask and she didn’t think it smelled bad either so it’s probably just me.

Is It Worth The Money?

However, even though I didn’t like two of the masks, I still loved the other three. So for me, this kit was definitely worth the money.  The five full sized masks in this kit would have cost me a fortune if I had bought them separately. To be honest, I probably wouldn’t have tried all these masks if they hadn’t come in a kit. So I basically got to try the brands top five masks for the price of two full sized masks. I would definitely recommend getting any of the mask kits. If you don’t have 75 $ to spare (995 SEK) or you just want to try some different masks, Peter Thomas Roth also sells these kits:
