PETER THOMAS ROTH PUMPKIN ENZYME MASK

Pumpkin Enzyme Mask

The Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask (150 ml / 5 fl. oz.) is described as a three-in-one intensive skin resurfacer mask that exfoliates with the help of pumpkin enzyme, AHA’s and aluminum oxide. It is said to reveal smoother, younger looking & revitalized skin. The question is, does it work?

First of all, this works for all kinds of skin types. I have oily/combination skin and it works wonders for me. My mother has tried it and she has dry skin, and she also thought it was amazing. Lets break down the main three ingredients that work to exfoliate your skin:

  • Pumpkin Enzyme: A natural enzymatic exfoliator that helps smooth the skin’s surface.
  • Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA): Infused with lactic acid; chemically exfoliates to help reveal a fresher, more youthful and radiant appearance.
  • Aluminum Oxide Crystals: Provide effective physical exfoliation to polish skin, helping to rejuvenate the appearance of a lackluster complexion.

This peeling mask is by far the strongest I’ve ever used. It will sting your face and how much will depend on your personal threshold for pain. I have a pretty high threshold for pain so I’m not bothered by it at all, but it’s the only chemical exfoliant I have used where I can actually feel it sting my face. At first, I was super scared to try it because some people had complained that it felt like their face was on fire. I have sensitive skin in certain areas, but I honestly don’t feel like it stings extra in those areas either. It stings for a bit, but it fades gradually and after a few minutes the stinging stops completely.

It polishes away dead, dull skin and the next day my skin will look less read and my acne scars will look less prominent. Any existing acne on my face will also be diminished. The best part about using AHA peels is that they don’t dry your skin out in the same way that a BHA peel does. So even though this is a super strong peel, it doesn’t leave my skin dry and flaky.

Pumpkin Enzyme Mask

The Pumpkin Enzyme Mask is super sticky and the aluminum oxide crystals (they feel a bit like sugar but less abrasive) help to mechanically exfoliate the skin while you massage the mask onto your face in a circular motion. I’ve noticed that the more I massage it it, the more it stings. So if you think that this mask really stings, be gentle when you apply it and try not to rub it on. Once it’s on your face it will start to dry, and you will be left with a orange tint to your face.

It smells like christmas to me, because it smells like cinnamon buns (yum!). One jar contains 150 ml / 5 fl. oz. of product, which is a lot considering you’re only supposed to apply a thin layer of it. I think that this mask will last me at least a year, but we’ll see about that. It’s pretty expensive, but as I said, it will last you a while and the results you get makes it worth every penny.

* Om du bor i Sverige skulle jag ändå rekommendera att du beställer från Beautybay eftersom det är nästan 200 kr billigare än på svenska sidor (+ gratis frakt)!

Even though I love this peeling mask and with most certainty will repurchase it once I run out of it, I don’t personally feel like it does anything about my pores. I have enlarged pores on and around my nose, on my chin and on my forehead. I don’t see any difference to my pores on my nose and chin after this, but maybe that’s just me? My pores in those areas are super stubborn and I’m actually considering getting an extraction because they are getting on my nerves. Maybe I just need to keep using it more often? I will let you all know if and when I see a difference.

Pros:
+ exfoliates skin
+ not drying
+ reduces redness, acne scars and blemishes
+ Smells great
+ you get a lot of product for your money’s worth

Cons:
– stings
– expensive

All in all? I’m loving it. My skin is so much smoother and less read because it fades the scars from my acne. I love that it doesn’t make my sensitive areas read or itchy and my face isn’t read after use. My skin always looks better the next day (even if it doesn’t do anything about the pores on my nose and chin). Will I be repurchasing? Yes. Definitely. Everyone needs this Pumpkin Enzyme Mask in their life.
