SENSAI | SILKY PURIFYING SILK PEELING MASK

SENSAI Silky Purifying Silk Peeling mask (645 kr for 90 ml or 55 £ at Harrods) is a cleansing and moisturizing mask that is part of Sensai’s two step cleansing approach. It’s a cream type peeling mask that provides a very mild micro-exfoliation while moisturizing the skin. It’s supposed to leave your skin looking clear and glowing.

The mask provides both physical and chemical exfoliation. It contains both grains of silk powder to physically scrub away dead skin, and lactic and citric acid to chemically peel away the top layers of dead skin. If you have sensitive skin and find that micro-exfoliation is a bit harsh on your skin, you would probably still be able to use this mask because the grains of silk powder are very mild and not harsh at all. I have sensitive skin and have been scared to try chemical peels because I was afraid they might be a bit too harsh on my skin, but I didn’t feel any stinging or redness after using this mask. Since it so mild this peel might suitable for us with sensitive skin.

Because it is so mild it can be used 1-3 times a week and if you have more tolerant skin it can even be used both in the morning and in the night (not everyday though!). The bottle comes with a pump and they recommend you use 2-3 pushes of the pump for each use. I can tell you that you honestly only need 1/2 pump. The pump distributes so much product that using 2-3 pumps is way too much. You massage the cream onto wet skin, and then leave it on for one minute. I leave it on for about 10-15 minutes, because I do not notice any difference in my skin after only 1 minute. I’d recommend trying it for one minute the first time, and then leaving it on for longer if you feel that one minute isn’t enough for you.

I have really big pores and have to exfoliate often to minimize the appearance of my pores and even out the texture of my skin. The first time I used this product I found it had hardly made any difference at all to my skin. But after just one of week of using this mask (I use it about 3 times a week), I was hooked. If you suffer from a lot of big pores and texture to your skin, it may feel a little too mild for you. But as I have sensitive skin this was a perfect chemical peel to try. I feel it makes my skin clearer, it doesn’t dry out my skin as I had expected it too and it gives my skin that healthy glow that is so hard to find during the cold winter months.

Pros:
– It’s a mild exfoliant that should work for sensitive skin.
– It doesn’t dry your skin out.
– Comes with a pump.
– You get a lot of product in the bottle
– Long lasting as you only really need a small amount of product for each use.

Cons:
– Expensive
– Hard to find a reseller

All in all? A great peeling masque that doesn’t leave your skin tight and dehydrated. As it is mild, I would suggest that it’s even useable if you have sensitive skin (please always get a sample first though!). Also, you can use it pretty often, the recommended dose of three times a week is enough for me. Is it a must have? No. Will I buy it again? Probably not. And that’s not to say that I don’t like it, because I really like it. I’ve been obsessed with the glow it gives me. Its just that there are so many different peels out there and I wanna try them all. I’m not ready to commit just yet.
